I was out walking the other day, nowhere near a stadium, nowhere near a screen, and it hit me out of nowhere: I'm genuinely lucky to have this club in my life. Not lucky like winning something. Lucky like having something steady to hold onto.
I don't usually get sentimental about football in public. But every so often it's worth stepping back from the takes and just naming the actual thing underneath all of it: this club has given me something real.

What actually matters is what it's attached to: a sense of continuity. Between a career spent looking after other people and years of service that asked a lot of me, having one thing that stayed constant — that I could always come back to, that didn't change shape depending on how hard the week had been — turned out to matter more than I expected it to.
That's not a small thing. A lot of people spend a long time looking for something like that and don't find it. I found mine in a football club on the other side of an ocean, which is a strange sentence to write down but a true one.
Starting this channel, I expected to be talking to a screen. Instead there's an actual community on the other end of it — people who show up in the comments, people who've been watching since the early videos with a fraction of the views, people who care about the same daft details I do. That wasn't the plan going in. It's become one of the better parts of doing this.
